国際協力機構（JICA）は、日本の政府開発援助（ODA）のうち二国間援助を一元的に実施する独立行政法人です。ダイナミックに変化する国際社会において、人間の安全保障とSDGsの実現を追求し、それによって国際社会から日本への信頼を醸成しています。その活動は、技術協力、円借款や無償資金協力、ボランティア、民間企業支援まで幅広く、アジア・大洋州、アフリカ、中東、欧州、中南米の海外139か国・地域で活動をしています。

JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) is the governmental agency for implementing bilateral ODA (Official Development Assistance) from Japan. Its mission is to pursue human security and SDGs in dynamic international environment, thus fostering trust to Japan. JICA provides various kinds of modalities to 139 developing countries worldwide; technical cooperation, concessional loans, grant aid, grassroot cooperation (NGO and volunteer) and private sector support.

安藤直樹氏は、JICAの理事として、グローバル・サウスとして注目をされるアフリカ、地政学上の要衝である中東、ウクライナを含む欧州を統括しています。ウクライナ支援は、現在のJICAの最大のトピックの１つです。安藤氏は、京都大学を卒業後にJICAに入り、ザンビア、エチオピア、インドネシアで駐在するなど、事業現場での豊富な経験があります。世界の複合的危機における日本とJICAの役割について、国際協力の側面から、講演を行い、議論します。

Mr. Naoki ANDO is the senior vice-president of JICA, in charge of Africa, Middle East, and Europe. Those countries are now geopolitical hot spots. Assistance to Ukraine is one of the biggest current topics at JICA. He graduated from Kyoto University and served in JICA including as the JICA’s representative in Zambia, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. He will speak on and discuss the role of Japan / JICA in the current global compounded crises , from the viewpoint of development cooperation.
