International FORUM “Zero-Carbon Cities: Opportunities, Challenges, Solutions” 19th October (Wed.) 2022, 10:00-12:00 (JST)
イベント 10月19日(水)10:00〜12:00、インターナショナルフォーラム「Zero Carbon Cities: Opportunities, Challenges, Solutions」を開催します。
Summary
In recent years, a growing number of local governments have been declaring their commitments to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Towards the net-zero goal, what motivates municipalities and what opportunities does climate action provide? What are the most common challenges and which drivers contribute to more effective action? What local initiatives are being planned and what have been the best practices?
Towards answering these questions this Forum will feature:
- ・First release of the results of the original survey, conducted by Fedor Myasoedov (PhD student at Kyoto University) in 2022, featuring responses from 300 local governments in Japan.
- ・Keynote presentations and commentaries by distinguished speakers from Japan and overseas, representing city governments, academic institutions and international organisations.
Through dialogue this Forum aims to arrive at a number of recommendations that could be of use for local governments and other urban stakeholders towards achieving the net-zero goal.
