Title The world’s compounded crises and international cooperation today

JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) is the governmental agency for implementing bilateral ODA (Official Development Assistance) from Japan. Its mission is to pursue human security and SDGs in dynamic international environment, thus fostering trust to Japan. JICA provides various kinds of modalities to 139 developing countries worldwide; technical cooperation, concessional loans, grant aid, grassroot cooperation (NGO and volunteer) and private sector support.

Mr. Naoki ANDO is the senior vice-president of JICA, in charge of Africa, Middle East, and Europe. Those countries are now geopolitical hot spots. Assistance to Ukraine is one of the biggest current topics at JICA. He graduated from Kyoto University and served in JICA including as the JICA’s representative in Zambia, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. He will speak on and discuss the role of Japan / JICA in the current global compounded crises , from the viewpoint of development cooperation.
