A paper titled “Clean energy and (E)SG investing from energy and environmental linkages,” which discusses the difference between clean energy (CE) investments, including renewable energy, and ESG investments, has been published in Environment, Development and Sustainability (Springer).
The empirical analysis results show that ESG investments do not confirm environmental values when focusing on energy linkage, unlike CE investments. The implication is that clean energy policymakers must explicitly distinguish between CE and ESG investments in their investment decision makings.
