Please tell us what you did during two years.
I spent so valuable time for two years in Egypt on and off the record. My job was analysis in macro-economics in Egypt to encourage investment by Japanese company as well as investigation about international aid projects implemented there.
Through those activities, I got an opportunity to develop my insight about Government of Japan, learning otherwise could hardly be seen such as logistical procedure and personal feelings of diplomats. The insight might ease tention which would happen in coordination between me and counterpart from governmental sector. I wish, in doing so, I could generate better alternatives for both parties and for the world.

Is there any impressive episode?
It happened when I used gym for the first time in Egypt. No sooner had I entered the changing room than a male young receptionist started to pray, as it was time of pray for muslim. “I must not enter it”, I just felt soon before another man who had taken shower came in. The scene of muscular man wearing his shirt beside praying man destroyed my stereotype on pray.
I came into my mind that praying is one aspect of the same daily life as mine, and that taking physical and mental distance just because I do not know it is one thing, and having compassion with him is another thing. I realized the importance of everyone’s daily life interrelated with undistant compassion.

Any message?
I realized the importance of trancending border between practice and academic and belonging to various organizations to have various types of information imputed/outputed. Everyone has his/her own theme to follow. What we have to do is to look closely how relevant instutions take actions, which enables understanding about structure of the theme in a comprehensive way. I hope my further effort at GSAIS would encourage you to achieve your abition.

Participated at relay-marathon.
