Student Activity: Internship at UNDP
As the overseas fieldwork(Mushashugyo), the 4th grade students go to internship at international institutions for about 6 months.
Profile Name: Charles BOLIKO Speciality / Major: Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability / Development Economics, Sustainable Development, Renewable Energy Organisation: UNDP(United Nations Development Programme) representation office in Tokyo Country: Japan Period: 26th September, 2018 – 25th March, 2019 As a TICAD* Intern at the UNDP representation office in Tokyo I conduct various activities relating to TICAD and UNDP events. I also have the responsibility of conducting desk research regarding socio-economic circumstances in developing regions, and this information gathered is then shared in lectures with multiple audiences in meetings, schools, offices or networking events. This work makes my role quite diversified, with my work environment providing fresh new challenges every day. I chose to undertake this role in my 4th year to learn how various stakeholders have approached development in Africa, especially with my research being focused on development in the African region. My position has given me great access and exposure to all relevant actors and has really helped me to learn more about on-ground circumstances beyond my day-to-day academic research as a student. *TICAD(Tokyo International Conference on African Development) |
