Profile
Name: Go OKUI
Speciality / Major: Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability / Ethics, Public Philosophy
Organisation: UNESCO(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)
Country: France
Period: April/2017 – Feb/2018

I am working as an intern at UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) from April. Currently I am involved in the management of on the World Humanities Conference which will be held in Liège, Belgium, from 6 to 11 August. My duties include the management of the programme, drafting of concept notes for some of the sessions, conducting research and drafting outcome document. Aware of growing difficulties across the globe, the outcome document of the World Humanities Conference addresses, among other things, intellectual challenges where their relevance is called into question, requiring reconsideration of their traditional status, but also institutional challenges, as increasingly scarce humanities funding pressures scholars to conform to the metrics of application-oriented disciplines. The draft outcome document will be uploaded to the UNESCO’s website in a few days and will be open for public consultation. If you are interested, please download it from the following link and share your opinion to the secretariat. The outcome document will be adopted during the Conference and will be taken into account at the 39th session of the General Conference in this November.
