2019 2nd International Seminar: “EBRD’s outline, expanding activities and requested talent and resources” was held.

The President of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) visited and held an international education seminar at Kyoto University on 30 July 2019.
 
By seizing the opportunity of an official visit from Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President of EBRD to Japan for the first time in three years, President Chakrabarti made a courtesy call on Professor Yasuyuki Kono, Director of Kyoto University European Center and Vice-President for International Strategy on 30 July 2019. They discussed how to enhance the exchange between the two institutions, including internships at Kyoto University by students at EBRD, and how to enhance the collaboration between the Kyoto University European Center and the EBRD.
 
After the courtesy call, Sir Chakrabarti gave a lecture at the Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies (GSAIS), Kyoto University. The purpose of the lecture was to explain the main mission and activities of the EBRD as well as to describe ideal candidates for the EBRD.  President Chakrabarti emphasized the need to increase Japanese staff and appealed to the students about the challenges and merits of working at EBRD. The lecture was followed by a very active Q&A session.
