The 7th edition of TICAD will be held this year from August 28th to August 30th in Yokohama, where African countries (including Heads of State) international organizations, development partners, private sector and civil society discuss various matters regarding African development. The event is co-organized by the Japan, the United Nations, World Bank, UNDP, and the African Union Commission. Multiple organizations are invited on this occasion to organize side events for the TICAD occasion.

The TICAD side event, titled “A Workshop on Promoting Private Investment in Renewable Energy in Africa”, is a workshop in which discussions will focus on the renewable energy sector in Africa; addressing opportunities and barriers to investment, the role of the private sector in rural electrification, and policy proposals to accelerate universal access with renewable energy.

Short initial presentations will be followed by an inclusive panel discussion, in which audience members are welcomed to participate. The session is concluded with final remarks regarding effective policy for promoting private sector investment in renewable energy in Africa.
